The Jaguars Elite 15 and under boys flag football team got off to a slow start on offense and never recovered on Saturday in Canton, Ohio, losing to the Loudon Legends 15-12 in the quarterfinals of the NFL Flag Championships.

Quarterback Ty Keister, who will be a sophomore at Englewood, ran for one touchdown and threw for another but the Jaguars couldn't overtime an early 8-0 deficit.

Keister's TD run cut the score to 8-6 by halftime. Loudon then made it 15-6 with under two minutes to play and a drive downfield ended with Keister's TD pass to Marquez Hicks on the final play of the game.

The game was televised on the NFL Network and three other digital platforms in the most extensive airing of the NFL Championships in the history of the league's association with flag football.

How did the Jaguars Elite reach the quarterfinals?

The Jaguars went 3-0 in pool play in July 18, which mirrored NFL divisions. The Jags beat teams sponsored by the Houston Texans 33-13, the Tennessee Titans 27-24 and the Indianapolis Colts 29-0.

The Jaguars then beat a New York Jets-sponsored team 14-0 on July 19. In that game, defensive back Brysen Wright (who is headed to Mandarin) made two one-handed catches, with both videos posted by the NFL on social media going viral.

How is the Jaguars Elite girls team doing?

The 18 and under team went 1-2 in pool play and dropped into Pool B, which is a consolation bracket. However, they rebounded on Friday to beat Twisted Sister (Denver) 33-0 and will play Woodland Hills (Steelers) at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday. The game is not televised.

The 18U team had a couple of heartbreakers in pool play, losing to the Liberty City Warriors (Texans( 9-6) and the KC Shockers (Colts) 14-13. They beat Premier (Titans) 18-7.
