JACKSONVILLE, Fl. (WSAV) – It’s almost time for the NFL season, and the Jacksonville Jaguars battled the heat on day two of training camp.

WSAV’s Colby Zak is in Jacksonville and observed.

The Jaguars’ defense brought energy to practice from the very start of warm-ups to the very end of practice.

Ryan Nielson led the way in many drills, who the Jaguars hired at the end of last season to become the new defensive coordinator.

in 2023 Nielson was the D.C. for the Atlanta Falcons and led them to the second most fumbles in the NFL.

He says his big emphasis is connecting with his players beyond the football field.

“Players don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care.”

Nielson is also known for having a very loose depth chart and giving reps to players all over the roster for a fair chance to start.
