More layoffs at freight-related firms: 607 workers cut across 4 states
Layoffs continue across the commercial transportation and freight industry, according to a new round of worker reduction notices in Florida, Texas, Illinois and Wisconsin. It is the second round of layoffs since the beginning of July. Averitt Express, Bath & Body Works Logistics Services, ShipBob, and Henry Avocado Corp. announced a total of 218 layoffs earlier in the month.

Audubon Celebrates new islands in its Florida Coastal Islands Sanctuaries System
A generous donation from Mahaffey Management, LLC, adds three mangrove spoil islands to the Florida Coastal Islands Sanctuaries System and brings the total number of islands up to 28. The islands, spread across Tampa and Sarasota bays, host thousands of breeding pairs of 29 species – among the largest and most diverse coastal bird populations in the state.
Some changes in our weather pattern this weekend
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - High pressure will move right over the top of central Florida as a front moves into N. Florida. This high pressure system will mean very light winds throughout the day which will allow a sea breeze or west wind to develop in the early afternoon. This along with some additional moisture will bring showers and thunderstorms once again to the area. Now the rain chance is at 50%, meaning not everyone is going to see these pop-up storms during the mid afternoon through the early evening.
