A funeral service for Peter Courtney, Oregon’s longest serving lawmaker and Senate president, is scheduled for July 30 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Angel. Courtney worked as a Salem lawmaker for nearly four decades, ascending to become the powerful Senate president in 2003.
