A new tropical disturbance brewing in the Atlantic Ocean is a reminder that hurricane season is far from over. Luckily, St. Johns County residents can get a free hand with their hurricane preparations in the form of free sandbags Wednesday morning.

Free sandbags will be available at a handful of locations from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Supplies are limited to 12 sandbags per vehicle, and St. Johns County residents must show proof of residency.

In total, the county is looking to give away 12,000 premade sandbags.

Here’s a list of giveaway locations:

    • Mills Field — 1805 Racetrack Road, St. Johns.
    • Palm Valley Bridge — Under the bridge on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway.
    • North Beach Park — 3721 Coastal Highway, Vilano Beach.
    • Solomon Calhoun Community Center — 1300 Duval St., St. Augustine.
    • St. Johns County Equestrian Center — 8200 Smith Road, Hastings.
    • Windswept Acres Park — 5335 State Road A1A S., St. Augustine.
