    Bab’s Lab

    On Friday evening, narrative performance guru Barbara Colaciello’s popular Bab’s Lab Story Slam series celebrates its eighth year of friendly storytelling competitions. Each member of the storyteller lineup will tell a five-minute story based on the theme On the Path .     Fabric of a Nation, Summer at the Cummer, Quilting Demo

    Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens | Riverside

    It’s a busy weekend of programming at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. The revered Riverside institution’s newest exhibition, Fabric of a Nation: American Quilt Stories gets top billing during Friday’s installment of its FREE Summer at the Cummer festivities. And on Saturday, members of Jacksonville’s Modern Quilt Guild host a quilting demonstration (noon-3 p.m.) The museum is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and noon-4 p.m. on Sunday.     Jacksonville Stacked Stars, Voices of Moncrief, Fill My Heart with Hope

    MOCA | Downtown Jacksonville

    As MOCA celebrates its 100-year-anniversary, the Downtown museum is stacked with new exhibitions. The late Frank Stella’s large-scale sculpture installation, Jacksonville Stacked Stars fills Project Atrium. Voices of Moncrief , with works by the University of North Florida student artist-in-residence, remains on view. And an exhibition of more than 100 works – many of which by less-heralded artists hailing from the Deep South – called Fill My Heart With Hope: Works From The Gordon W. Bailey Collection, fills two floors of the museum. MOCA is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is always free on Saturdays. More info .

    Prolific Jacksonville singer-songwriter Tori Nance celebrates the release of her new full-length album with a performance at Jax Beach’s intimate Blue Jay Listening Room.
