St. Augustine warns of king tides flooding

St. Augustine is preparing for more street flooding during king tides over the next week.

Areas of particular concern include Lincolnville, Maria Sanchez Lake, South Davis Shores, San Sebastian River Bridge at U.S. 1 and King St., Abbott Tract, Fullerwood, Nelmar Terrace, the bayfront seawall by Castillo de San Marcos, and Bridge Street between Cordova and Granada streets.

The tides should subside by Oct. 23, but the city has issued the following warnings in the meantime:

• Do not walk through flood waters. It can be dangerous and a health hazard.
• Do not drive through flooded areas. Turn around and find another way.
• Avoid driving through flooded waters, which can create waves and cause additional damage to landscape and property.
• Be careful around manhole covers. They can become dislodged by the high tides.

The city encourages the public to use the city’s website at www.CityStAug.com/ReportFlooding to report flooding and clogged storm drains.
