Kentucky man allegedly shot roommate over eating the last hot pocket

A Kentucky man is in jail after police allege that he shot his roommate after the victim consumed the final Hot Pocket in the house.

Clifton E. Williams, 64, of Louisville, was arrested Sunday, May 22, on one count of assault for the shooting that injured his roommate during an alleged argument over the quick microwavable turnover filled with deli meat and cheese.

Williams allegedly began tossing tiles at his roommate after learning that he had presumably eaten the last Hot Pocket. The roommate allegedly tried to escape, but Williams allegedly returned to the apartment, took out a firearm, and shot the victim in the back, according to arrest documents.

The roommate told police that he attempted to fight back, but was starting to leave when when Williams went back into the residence to grab the gun, and that is when he was shot in the back.

According to the roommate's statement to detectives, he looked for help nearby, citing police. He traveled a few blocks when he was finally able to get help, and was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital and treated there for non-life-threatening wounds.

Williams, who was charged with assault and arraigned Monday morning, was told not to speak to his roommate and not to have any firearms or other weapons, according to the police. His bond was set at $7,500.

On May 30, Williams is apparently scheduled to return to court. It is unknown if he has entered a plea or attained a lawyer to speak for him on his behalf.
