Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati was alive tonight with two all-star bands that brought the best of classical rock vocal sounds.

Along with electric instrumentation and rhythms, the evening was opened with Loverboy, a Canadian Rock band led by vocalist Mike Reno. The band was top-notch, delivering on-the-spot vocals and melodies that didn’t miss a beat. Some 1980s songs they performed with a high-enthused audience included Working for the Weekend, Take Me to the Top, The Kid is Hot Tonight, and Turn Me Loose.

Sammy Hagar and Circle performance was the main event. Sammy Hagar, the lead singer, has had a highly accomplished career both on his own and as the lead vocalist for Van Halen before forming several other bands. He gave a spirited performance with Michael Anthony on bass and backup vocals. Michael was also a veteran Valan Halen performer who kept the pulsating sounds throughout the night. Vic Johnson, on lead guitar, and Jason Bonham, on percussion, drove the evening home while keeping the sound going. Some classic songs that enticed the audience into singing, dancing, and raising hands in the air included Ain’t Talkin bout Love, Panama, Right Now, Top of the World, and Best of Both Worlds.

All who attended this show will remember it. It was highly entertaining.
