California Leads The U.S. In Michelin Stars With 13 New Winners

With the vast number of cultures in California, it has always been thought of as one of the key places in the foodie landscape of America. Michelin agrees again and has honored 13 more California restaurants, giving them the coveted Michelin star. California now has more Michelin-star-awarded restaurants than any other state in America.

The San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County dominated the newly awarded restaurants with many different types of cuisine.

The Bay Area Winners:

Five Bay Area restaurants were given Michelin stars. Those include Azalina’s, Hed 11, and Tiya in San Francisco. The modern soul food restaurant Burdell in Oakland was also honored, as was Molti Amici in Healdsburg in the Wine Country.

These restaurateurs are from all types of cuisines. From Thai, Indian, and Malaysian food to delectable Italian fare, these restaurants are a part of the eclectic food scene in California.

Southern California:

The southern California additions to the Michelin guide include Ambrogio by Acquerello in La Jolla and Los Angeles restaurants Barra Santos, Danbi, Grá, Leopardo, Mae Malai Thai House of Noodles, and Stella.

Silver Omakase in Santa Barbara rounds out the list. Southern California is also in the hit parade of unique styles. From Italian to California cuisine, Korean, Thai, and sushi to Mediterranean food, the representation is amazing for so many types of cuisine. The Porteguese restaurant Barra Santos rounds out the uniqueness with delicious dishes mixed in with homemade recipes that are easy to share. Many of these restaurants hope to continue the excellence that they have shown in receiving these awards.
