Another music festival has been cancelled. This time, Hiero Day, in celebration of hieroglyphics music, has cancelled their 2024 concert celebration in Oakland, California. This is actually a free concert that is done to promote the culture in the East Bay and to celebrate the music and the area.

There have been a rash of festivals in California and around the world, for that matter, that have been cancelled. Some due to low ticket sales or other situations that make the festival run out of money.

Sometimes customers get their money back. Unfortunately, though sometimes they don't. The latest festival to not give refunds was the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in Boonville, California. Even though the organizers were selling tickets a week before the event was cancelled, they eventually stated that they could not issue refunds. Some of the people bought packages, and unfortunately they were just out of luck.

    Music Festivals Struggling:

This has happened around the world. So many have been cancelled that the website Music Festival Wizard has its own section with dozens being cancelled. Many feel the greed of promoters has hurt the industry. Where fans could go to multiple festivals, now they can barely go to one. Some festivals have layaway plans on their sites!

Even Lollapalooza Paris cancelled and has erased most mentions of the 2024 festival and is already marketing the 2025 concerts.

The money to be made at festivals is exhorbant, and that's why so many try to do it. Take Napa, California's Bottlerock. It has made so much money that the Latin American festival La Onda has been created and has been a huge success. Some though end up failing. The year 2025 could be a make-or-break year for many music festivals.
