Every third Saturday of September, a special day for many who love DC comic characters. It's National Batman Day, which falls on Saturday, September 21 in 2025.

To this day, Batman is still one of the most beloved characters and people of all ages that everyone can't get enough of. To commemorate the day, many cities around the world will light the “bat light” in the evening, with several people dressed in Batman or other characters loving every minute of it.

Probably the most emotional one was the year when Adam West who played Batman in the campy tv show of the 1960's passed away. Los Angeles City Hall did a special lighting that year when he passed in June of 2017.

The foundation of Batman obviously was in the DC comic books and then the cult classic Batman series in the late 1960's with Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin.

In the 60's episodes, using several popular actors and actresses of the day as the villains was genius, creating unforgettable characters that are still celebrated to this day. Vincent Price, Cesar Romero, Frank Gorshin, Eartha Kitt, Otto Preminger, Eli Wallach, Victor Bueno, Roddy McDowall, and Carolyn Jones are just some of the amazing talents that people enjoyed.

The modern era was much more serious, dark, and violent, with villains such as Heath Ledger's Joker. The multiple Batman characters—some loved more than others—also were a little confusing at times, but the quality of the movies and the iconic character were always the focal point.

Studios, comic book stories, and movie theaters will have different events going on. Make sure to search on the internet to find one near you to celebrate the day of the Dark Knight.
