    Man dies after going off road, hitting tree in Jamestown on West Main Street near Scientific Street, troopers say

    JAMESTOWN, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is dead after a truck he was driving went off the road and hit a tree on Sunday, according to a State Highway Patrol news release.

    At 1:53 a.m., troopers responded to a crash on West Main Street near Scientific Street in Guilford County.

    William Daniel Andrews, 34, of High Point, was going west on West Main Street in a 2011 Toyota Tacoma pickup when he went off the road to the right and hit a tree.

    Andrews suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

    Troopers were told shortly after his arrival that Andrews had succumbed to injuries received during the crash.

    It is unknown at this time why his vehicle went off the road.

    West Main Street near Scientific Street was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation.

    Troopers cleared the scene at 4:54 a.m.
