    Jamestown man arrested after riding scooter on track with narcotics

    ( WJET/WFXP ) — A New York man was arrested in the early hours of Independence Day after police said they saw him riding a motorized scooter on a school running track.

    According to Jamestown police, officers were on patrol around 1:50 a.m. on Thursday checking around Persell School when they saw the man riding on the track.

    After confronting him, police identified the man as 42-year-old Maurice Hough, of Jamestown, who had an active warrant out from Jamestown City Court.

    During the arrest, police said Hough allegedly tried to conceal and destroy over a half ounce of methamphetamine before being taken into custody.

    He’s now facing charges of fourth and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of tampering with evidence along with the warrant. He’s now being held pending arraignment in the Jamestown City Court.
