JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — Parents of students at Jefferson Elementary School expressed anger and frustration about conditions at their child's school Wednesday. WBIR has received several messages from parents who said the school lacked air conditioning during the first week of school, and who said their kid's teachers have asked parents to dress students in cool clothing.

Eric Byrd and Amanda Bishop, both natives of Roane County and former students of Roane County High School, have been indicted for the first-degree murder of Jacob Bishop, Amanda Bishop’s estranged husband at the time of his death in 2019. Jacob Bishop, an Army National Guard veteran, was found murdered in the early hours of October 1, 2019, at his residence in Lenoir City.

Tennessee blood suppliers are nearly out of the type hospitals need for emergency room patients. “Right now, the supply of type O blood products is so low that hospital distributions have been reduced below what hospitals need,” said Jerrica Williams, the regional communications director for Red Cross of Tennessee. “Type O is the universal blood type, so it is critical that hospitals have both type O-positive and O-negative ready and available for emergency situations.”
