JAMESVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Martin County Officials say water consumers of Jamesville and Williamston have experienced time periods of low pressure and outages due to a damaged water main.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system have increased the potential for back siphonage and a possibility of bacteria getting into the water system. The hydrant has also been isolated off from the system.

Once water service is restored, consumers are advised to boil all water used for human consumption including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation. In alternative to this would be using bottled water.

Vigorous boiling for one minute should dispose of any disease-causing organisms that could be present in the water. Consumers are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible. This advisory will remain in effect until further notification is issued.
