JAMESVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Water consumers of Jamesville have experienced periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution due to a damaged water main due to the hydrant being isolated from the system.

Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria that have entered the water system.

When water service is restored, consumers are advised to boil all water that is used for human consumption including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation.

Extreme boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may present themselves in the water. Consumers are strongly urged to conserve water whenever possible.

This advisory is in effect until further notice.
