JANESVILLE — The last time that the Beloit Senior Legion Bandits and the Janesville Senior Legion Post 205 squads met up, Janesville overcame four-run first inning deficit and beat Beloit 9-4.

This time it was the Bandits who overcame an early setback and got a little revenge for last Wednesday’s loss as Beloit beat Post 205 6-2 on Wednesday night at Riverside Park.

Charlie Kober had an RBI single in the second and scored on a bassed ball to put Post 205 up 2-0.

But the Bandits answered quickly. After Mitch Stuessy and Dustin Foss started off the third with a pair of walks, Jayden Piccione lined a single into center and Stuessy scored as Piccione drew a throw to second, where he was safe.

Owen West tied it with his sacrifice fly to right field and, after Andy Buckley reached on a dropped pop fly and Brody Berg flew out, Brooks Mitchell’s single into center made it 3-2.

Beloit added insurance in the sixth as Mitchell led off with a walk and, an out later, Noah Pfundheller and Stuessy both singled to load the bases. Ethan Halon hit a single to left to score one and Piccione brought a second run across with his sac fly to center.

Owen West drew a walk in the seventh, stole second and moved to third on a groundout before upping it to 6-2 when he scored on a wild pitch.

The offense backed up a stellar start from Dustin Foss, who threw five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out three.

Halon threw a scoreless sixth and Andy Buckley tossed a 1-2-3 seventh to seal the win.

The two squads both had six hits but the Bandits drew seven walks to Janesville’s lone base on balls.

Piccione, Mitchell, Hayden Frye, Pfundheller, Stuessy and Halon all had a hit for Beloit while Mathias Treinen paced Janesville with two.

Blake Bowditch started for Post 205 and allowed six hits with six runs (five eanrned) on six hits and seven walks with three strikeouts. Kober threw a scoreless seventh with a strikeout.

The Bandits will return to Beloit on Thursday to take on Elkhorn at 6 p.m. at the Stateline YMCA Youth Sports Complex.

    • ELKHORN 15, BELOIT JUNIOR BANDITS 9: After spotting Elkhorn 11 runs in the first inning, the Junior Bandits (2-6) scored seven unanswered runs to pull within 12-9 before the hosts tacked on three in the sixth for the six-run victory.

That first at-bat was a doozy for Elkhorn as it scored 11 runs on five hits, four walks, two hit batsmen and six wild pitches.

Beloit starter Austyn Kjendlie took the loss, allowing 12 runs (six earned) in two innings. Austin Driver came on in relief and allowed only one hit and two runs (one earned) in 3 1-3 innings. Carter Middleton got the final two outs and allowed an unearned run.

Kayden Tyler was 2-for-3 with four runs scored to pace a Beloit attack that outhit Elkhorn 10-6. Driver was also 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Wilmy Hernandez had the lone extra base hit with a double.

The Junior Bandits will play Mukwonago at 5 p.m. Friday in the Fort Atkinson Tournament.
