    Haworth, Kern post winning scores at two-day Janesville Junior City Golf Tournament

    Easton Haworth of Janesville and Kennedy Kern of Edgerton posted the low boys and girls scores in the Janesville Junior City Golf Tournament held Monday and Tuesday.

    Monday’s first round was played at the Janesville Country Club, and the second round was at Riverside Golf Course on Tuesday.

    Haworth shot 68-70—138 to win the 17-18-year-old age group by nine shots over Wyatt Marshall. He had 10 birdies in his two rounds and finished Monday at the country club with an eagle on the par 4 18th.

    Kern, playing in the 13-14-year-old division, had the best score among all three age groups. She shot 164 for the tournament, including a 3-over round of 75 at Riverside, to hold off Beloit’s Taytum Oswald, who shot 169.

    Oswald competed earlier this year at the Drive, Chip and Putt national championships at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, ahead of The Masters.

    Grover’s win came after rounds of 103 at the country club and 96 at Riverside for a two-day total of 199. She beat out Grace Knilans by two shots. Knilans closed the gap during the second round with a 93.

    In the other age groups:

    Macy Grover joined Kern and Oswald as the third girls player with a sub-200 tournament, shooting 199 to win the girls 17-18-year-old division. Her score was two shots better than Grace Knilans’ 201.Noah Niccolai’s round of 79 at Riverside helped him overcome Liam Taylor in the boys 15-16 division. Niccolai totaled 167 shots to Taylor’s 170.Chase Chamberlainmoved from third to first in the girls 15-16 division when she shot a 103 at Riverside on Tuesday. That score was the low round of that competition by 13 strokes.The three entries in the boys 13-14 age division — Landon Truesdill, Seve Stried and Max Mullen — all tied at 234 strokes.
