    Milwaukee man arrested for driving recklessly, fleeing police

    JANESVILLE — A Milwaukee man was arrested just past midnight Friday by Janesville police for allegedly was speeding and driving recklessly through the city’s east side and almost striking a Janesville police officer.

    At 12:16 a.m., an officer responded to the area of Milton Avenue and Black Bridge Road for a complaint of a vehicle speeding and driving recklessly. The officer located the vehicle and was almost struck by it, according to a statement by the police department.

    The driver later crashed in the area of Benton Avenue and Harding Street. The driver, later identified as Cedric A. Dukes, 31, Milwaukee, fled the scene. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office assisted in searching for him with a K-9 and a drone. Dukes was found in the 300 block of E. Memorial Drive inside a residence. The results of a blood test to determine his level of impairment are pending, the release said.

    Dukes was held at the Rock County Jail. He was charged with fleeing and eluding an officer, resisting and obstructing an officer, second-degree recklessly endangering safety and operating while intoxicated as a first offense.
