Registration open for GIFTS Men's Shelter golf outing

JANESVILLE — The 11th annual golf outing to support GIFTS Men’s Shelter is set for Wednesday, Sept. 4.

This year’s event takes place at Prairie Woods Golf Course, 12601 East County Road A, Avalon. It’s a day of fun and friendly competition, all while raising funds for the men’s shelter.

Special registration is open now until Saturday, Aug. 10, in which registrants will be entered into drawing for a Janesville tour basket.

“It’s valued at just over $100, so we encourage people that plan to register, register before the 10th otherwise the regular registration deadline is August 20,” GIFTS Director of Community Development Tracy Schroeder said.

“The shelter doesn’t accept any government funding, so all our funding comes from fundraisers and donors. So we’re hoping this is a fun way people can come out and support us,” Schroeder added.

Golfing for one is $120 and $450 for four. Included are 18 holes and a cart.

Shotgun start is at 10 a.m. followed by lunch, awards and a silent action and raffles.

“A lot of men and women are golfing anyway and people seem to enjoy knowing that their money is going towards a good cause. We have a generous community,” Schroeder said.
