Rotary Ramble to pound pavement on Aug. 10
DeMOTTE – The 43rd annual Rotary Ramble 5K race will kick off at 8 a.m., CST, on Saturday, Aug. 10. Between 500 and 600 runners and walkers are expected for the race. The race is most notable for its “trophies” of authentic wooden shoes, which are given to the top three male and female overall winners as well as the top three finishers in each age and special run or walk division. Raffle prizes will also be awarded before the results.

Jasper County Arrest Log, June 19-25
Andre D. Blount, 52, of Chicago, was arrested by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department on a local arrest warrant. Emmanuel Vieyra, 33, of Tinley Park, Illinois, was arrested by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department for sexual battery and strangulation when defendant applies pressure to throat or neck or obstructs nose or mouth of another to impede breathing or blood.

Hopper takes Mrs. United USA 2024 crown in Florida
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Jasper County native Jessica Marie Hopper-Landrum was crowned the Mrs. United USA 2024 winner at the National United USA Pageant in Daytona Beach last weekend.
