Suspect apprehended in Randolph County after police pursuit
UNION CITY, Ind. – Officers from the Union City Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and attempted to flee officers at a high rate of speed. The pursuit began in Union City, Indiana and went into Jay County prior to the suspect crashing his vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and rolled multiple times. The driver was identified as Anthony Weimer.
First Bank of Berne donates $2,000 to local library, Cancer Society
Indiana-based First Bank of Berne donated $1,000 each to Jay County (Ind.) Public Library and Jay County Cancer Society. Announced June 6, the library donation will be used for summer programs. “The organization is focused on enriching the Jay County community by delivering services and programs that meet the educational, recreational and life needs of all of Jay County,” according to the $1 billion bank.

ST. MARYS — Arts Place is asking for artists to submit proposals for the Portable Cultural Planning Studio in its three locations, including 207 E. Spring St., St. Marys. Any current, new or emerging artist can send in work before 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 for any, two or all three studios in St. Marys, Blackford County, Indiana and Jay County, Indiana.
