LYMAN, Maine — Police say a man from Lyman crashed in Lyman Tuesday night after trying to pass several vehicles along Alfred Road in the middle of a heavy thunderstorm. Police say James Rouse, 32, then lost control of his red BMW just before 9 p.m. near Old Ben Davis Road and went off the road before the car rolled over multiple times. PORTLAND, Maine — Firefighters raced to put out a car fire in the parking lot of Hannaford on Forest Avenue in Portland Wednesday evening. The fire department said a hybrid vehicle caught fire just after 7 p.m. Firefighters said the potential for battery involvement in the fire "intensified the situation," but crews were able to contain the fire to the engine compartment. No other vehicles were damaged.
