$7.4M in federal funding on its way to Maine groups fighting food insecurity
BRUNSWICK, Maine — Maine school districts will soon get a funding boost when it comes to providing healthy, locally grown meals. The nonprofit Full Plates Full Potential was awarded $7.4 million in School Food System Innovation Grants as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Healthy Meals Incentives Initiative.

Several car fires doused in southern Maine
PORTLAND, Maine — Firefighters raced to put out a car fire in the parking lot of Hannaford on Forest Avenue in Portland Wednesday evening. The fire department said a hybrid vehicle caught fire just after 7 p.m. Firefighters said the potential for battery involvement in the fire "intensified the situation," but crews were able to contain the fire to the engine compartment. No other vehicles were damaged.
