Harvey’s — named after the son of the owners — is the first speciality cheese shop serving our beloved River City. But, it’s not just a cheese shop: it’s a space for both turophiles and those that want to learn, grow, and deepen their knowledge of cheese.

A fanatic myself, the purveyors at Harvey’s have expanded my repertoire of cheeses during my visits; in fact, I’ve learned more about cheese made here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the US, and abroad.

At Harvey’s, you can choose from a variety of fresh cheeses, accompaniments, and pre-made cheese plates.

The Toasties

Oh, and you MUST order a Toastie (aka the best grilled cheese that you will ever have). They have classic offerings: the Classico (Cheddar, Smoked Mozzarella, Dried Tomato, Pesto), Swiss Fondue (Gruyere, Emmental, Cherry, Shallot), and Sweet & Stinky (Taleggio, Lemon Ricotta, Apricot, Basil), along with specials of the week.

On my most recent visit, the special was the “Kinda Cuban” (Swiss cheese, Country Ham, Slow Roasted Pork, Spicy Dijon Spread, + Pickles).

Harvey’s Cheese is located at Logan Street Market, Louisville’s public urban market in the Shelby Park Neighborhood. Logan Street Market exists to provide healthy/fresh/local food, to be a leader in sustainable practices and events, to be a community gathering space for people to learn, grow and connect, and to be a premier destination where local chefs and artisans excel. Logan Street Market is a registered Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), a model allowing them to execute our social mission while running a sustainable business. Their mission is to provide an avenue for local and regional food, and for culture economies to engage the community through the timeless public market model. It’s one of my favorite places in the city!
