Kan. teen accused in fatal hit-and-run makes court appearance
SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas teen accused in a deadly hit-and run accident made her first court appearance in the case on Monday. Peyton Allart, 19, Wichita, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash, transporting an open container of alcohol and purchase or consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office. The crash killed 28-year-old Jaz Brooks from Wichita.

South Washington Street Roundabout reconstruction begins
KDOT has closed the South Washington Roundabout this week to begin work on the next phase of that project with the closure of the westbound Exit 296 on-ramp. The project entails reconstructing the South Washington Street roundabout as well as the portion of Washington Street that runs below I-70. Weather permitting, the roundabout and Washington Street are slated to reopen in September. Meanwhile, both westbound ramps at Exit 296 will remain closed until all work for the 2024 construction season is completed in late November, weather permitting.
