New Orleans Saints Owner, Gayle Benson Releases Statement about Hurricane Ida

    2021-08-31

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – As Hurricane Ida devastates New Orleans, some of the most prominent New Orleans citizens have been making statements regarding a donation to the city's settlers. The newest came from New Orleans Saints' owner, Gayle Benson.

In a statement released by the New Orleans Saints, Ms. Benson initially gave her prayers to all of those who have suffered from Hurricane Ida's impacts. She had great faith in the resilience and strength of the New Orleans community and looked forward to doing everything in our power to help lead in the recovery.

Benson then said that the Saints, as an organization, want to help everyone who has been impacted as they activated the Gulf Coast Renewal Fund. As a first step, Benson made an initial donation of $1 million to support communities affected by the storm throughout the state of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.

The statement then said that those who wish to donate for the hurricane's victim can do so by accessing NewOrleansSaints.com/hurricaneida. It will also continue to communicate with governmental and community leaders to determine where aid and assistance can most effectively be directed, while the fund's details and the other initiatives will be provided soon.

The statement also acknowledges that there will be much work to restore power and other infrastructure, as they have been in touch with government leaders to offer any assistance the franchise can do. On this thing, Federal Emergency Management Agency has accepted the Saints' offer, and FEMA's New Orleans Chapter will use some of the Ochsner Sports Performance Center to stage their assistance efforts.
