Electric cooperative restores power south of Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Hundreds of Three Rivers Electric Cooperative members were left without power briefly Tuesday amid rising temperatures after a tractor-trailer crashed into a utility pole.

Three Rivers area supervisor Kevin Prenger said a little after 10 a.m. that multiple crews were at the scene clearing the road. A new utility pole was also on its way to the site, Prenger said.

Power had been restored to all but one member by 10:30 a.m., Prenger said later. Line workers were able to reenergize the line while the new pole was installed, he said.

The cooperative said in a post on Facebook that the crash happened on Highway 133 and brought down the pole. Lines were across the road, the cooperative says.

The cooperative's outage map showed 537 members without power in the area near St. Elizabeth and Meta.

High temperatures in Mid-Missouri were expected to reach the mid-90s on Tuesday after a brief break from heat and humidity on Monday.
