New adult changing tables at Jefferson City park extend play time for those with special needs
Jefferson City Parks and Recreation is taking steps to make one right of summer passage – swimming at the pool—more inclusive. JC Parks’ Assistant Director of Arts and Outreach, Amy Schroder, says they have been reaching out to members of the community to see what they’d like to see at local facilities. Some of those community members included parents of children with special needs. Schroder says that’s when she learned that some of those children would benefit from an adult changing table. Schroder says they differ from traditional baby changing tables in a few ways.
