    Active shooter training to be held at Jefferson City elementary school

    JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. ( WATE ) — For those who may notice a heavy police presence in part of Jefferson City, Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Coffey is warning that there will be an active shooter training at an elementary school on Monday and Tuesday.

    The training will be taking place at Mt. Horeb Elementary School in Jefferson City between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16.

    During the training, Coffey warned that there will be simulated gunfire and explosions in the area, but those will be just for training.

    While the training is taking place, Coffey also warned that there will be a heavy police presence for the exercise.
