Elizabethton awarded TDEC grant for remediation projects
CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) announced the City of Elizabethton will receive funds from a Brownfield Redevelopment Area Grant for remediation projects. How impactful does Tennessee football need its transfer class to be in 2024?
Football continues to prioritize building its program through traditional high school recruiting under Josh Heupel and his staff, but in this day and age of college football it’s impossible to ignore the NCAA transfer portal as a means of acquiring talent to improve your roster and maximize your chances of winning on Saturdays. While the Vols might take a more measured, selective approach in using the portal compared to some of their SEC rivals, that perhaps only means that Tennessee can less afford misses in its transfer classes. Ahead of the Vols opening preseason camp next week, here’s a look at what impact Tennessee needs from its transfer class in 2024.

Chase deepens its footprint into East Tennessee opening more full-service branches
Chase Bank announced in February it planned to open 500 new branches nationwide and hire 3,500 employees over the next three years, including deeper into Tennessee. Following the expansion in the Nashville and Memphis markets and one branch near Knoxville, Chase will open five to six more branches in East Tennessee by the end of 2026. The 11242 Kingston Pike branch in Farragut opened in April and another branch at 503 Foothills Plaza in Maryville opened in May.

Mission of Hope to host 'Pack The Bus' for 11th year, helping give school supplies to students in need
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Over the tax-free weekend, families will take advantage of Tennessee's sales tax holiday by shopping for back-to-school items. Mission of Hope wants to use that time and savings to help them "Pack The Bus." The nonprofit said 2024 marks the 11th year Mission of Hope will have a bus outside the Office Max in Turkey Creek to collect school supplies.
