When there’s a big ol’ moose, loitering in your yard, who you gonna call? The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, it seems.

A Colorado homeowner was getting a little worried after a massive, 600 pound moose wandered into their backyard and made itself comfortable. They were hoping the towering animal would leave on its own, but that never happened, so they had no choice but to call in the local sheriff’s department – along with some animal control officials.

The moose kept peering into the home’s windows, and though it wasn’t a fully grown behemoth (fully grown adults can weigh as much as 1,600 pounds0, it was still big enough to cause concern. So the authorities and wildlife officials showed up to the home and got to work on removing the animal and returning it to its natural habitat.

Though it’s not shown in the video below, the moose was tranquilized for the safety of both the officials and the animals. Once the large moose was down, the team responding to the call got to work putting the 600 pound animal onto a tarp. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department posted these pictures and the clip of them removing the moose from the property, along with this message:

“How do you move a 600 pound moose? We found out because it took 8 people to move this one. Mr. Moose was peering in windows and taking a break in a yard.”

Once the large team of officers and animal control officials carefully walked the knocked-out moose out from the backyard and onto the trailer, it is said to have been transported to a nearby natural habitat and released back into the wild.

The moose seemed like it was having a great time experiencing backyard life (who can blame it?), so hopefully it can adjust to its regular wild animal life.
