Rigby moves to keep pursuing county aid in Rigby Lake Drive project; citizens still opposed
Following Jefferson County’s decision to not move forward on an Engineering project for the upgrades to Rigby Lake Drive, Rigby’s City Council has elected to vie for their partnership once again before the passage of an important grant deadline. While the two municipalities continue back-and-forth discussions on the project, land owners surrounding the area continue to oppose both county and city involvement.

RIGBY – Edgar Thomas Fillmore burned his face as the whiskey still in Rigby exploded. It was 1933 and the 54-year-old man had been elected Jefferson County’s fifth sheriff the previous fall. He’d run for office in hopes of making some extra money during the Great Depression, according to a written history provided by his grandson, William Fillmore.

Local water district weighs in on water curtailment discussion amid settlement negotiations
REXBURG — Economic concerns associated with the recent water curtailment order have been brewing for weeks now. The Idaho Department of Water Resources issued the curtailment on May 30 because it determined groundwater users in Bingham, Bonneville, Jefferson and Clark counties were not in compliance with a state mitigation plan. The plan maintains priority for surface water users in Magic Valley, who have senior water rights over groundwater users in eastern Idaho.

Andrew Mickelsen was officially elected as the Region 10 Chairman to represent Bonneville, Bingham and Jefferson counties on the Idaho GOP Executive Committee Thursday evening in Coeur d’Alene. The decision followed a period of controversy in which the state party did not recognize an earlier election where Mickelsen was selected by representatives from the three counties to be their voice on the Executive Committee.
Former prosecutor Robin Dunn gets plea deal on drug trafficking charges
IDAHO FALLS — A former Jefferson County prosecutor is expected to plead guilty after being indicted on federal drug charges last year. According to a plea agreement filed Tuesday, Robin Dunn, 68, has agreed to plead guilty to count one in his indictment, conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, in return for the prosecution agreeing to drop all other counts and recommend a sentence of 42 months, or three and a half years, in prison.
