Minor injuries sustained for three Mt. Vernon residents in single-vehicle crash
MT. VERNON, IL — A fire erupted during a one-vehicle crash south of Mt. Vernon just after 3:30 Friday morning. Jefferson County Emergency Authorities say three Mt. Vernon residents sustained minor injuries after the vehicle they were in, driven by 21-year-old Lansdale Hunter, swerved off of Route 148 just south of the Veterans Memorial Drive to miss hitting a deer and lost control before striking a tree. Hunter and the two passengers, 25-year-old Jaymela Hunter and 33-year-old Nikko Branch all exited the vehicle before it would catch fire. Jefferson Fire Protection would eventually extinguish the vehicle fire.
Centralia man injured in Sunday night dirt bike crash
A 21-year-old Centralia man was injured Sunday night when his dirt bike ‘flipped’ on Old Centralia Road. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Officials say the sheriff’s department became aware of the crash when Jacob Foutch of South Maple was being taken via private vehicle to SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon and was intercepted by Jefferson Fire and Litton’s Ambulance near Boyd for the rest of the trip.

Fly Arrested on Small Claims Warrant
A Jefferson County warrant sent an Enfield man to jail. Douglas Fly was arrested by the White County Sheriff’s Department on July 4th on a Body Attachment warrant, pertaining to a small claims case with the Orthopedic Center of Southern Illinois back in 2023. The warrant was issued from Jefferson County on June 26th of this year.

Sinnett is a native of Mount Vernon and a 1987 graduate of Mount Vernon High School.
