Fredericktown Man Injured in Accident
Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Fredericktown man is recovering from serious injuries sustained in an accident in Jefferson County Thursday night. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 49-year-old Charles E. Lee was driving a Jeep eastbound on Route M at Old Lemay Ferry Road at 11:29 p.m., when he traveled into a right turn only lane, traveled off the roadway onto a raised concrete island. Lee then traveled off the right side of the road and down an embankment. The Jeep struck several small trees and Lee was ejected out of the driver's door.

A bear that the Missouri Department of Conservation believes is traveling south in Jefferson County was seen in Barnhart. Dan Glore, a retired Fox C-6 School District administrator, reported seeing a bear on Moss Hollow Road near the Public Water Supply District C-1 facility and the Antonia Fire Protection District’s House 2 off Hwy. M.

Washington police are investigating an early morning break-in at Schroeder Drugs on Monday they believe may be connected to a similar burglary that occurred shortly afterwards in Jefferson County. A bear appears to be traveling south in Jefferson County, the Missouri Department of Conservation reported. Dan Zarlenga, the agency’s St. Louis regional media specialist, said the MDC was notified today, June 25, that a bear was seen in the Fenton area and in Arnold. He said it is believed the bear was first seen in west St. Louis County on June 21.
Jefferson County girl’s family helps children at Siteman Kids
A Jefferson County girl and her family want to make sure they give back after receiving help when they faced a life-threatening medical emergency. Harper Shamus, 7, of Arnold was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor two years ago. She underwent emergency surgery in August 2022 when she got a shunt to relieve the pressure on her brain, and she goes to Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital every four months so Washington University physicians may monitor the tumor.
