Tri-County Fire provides funding for fire mitigation
Last year, roughly 116,000 acres in Montana burned in wildfires. While this was significantly less than the 1.1 million acres scorched in 2017, which was the most severe wildfire season in recent memory, the unpredictability and potential impact of the state’s wildfire season has left communities and property owners struggling to acquire affordable homeowners insurance.

We are into summer now, and the weeds are showing their ugly or pretty heads. The Whitehall Biological Weed Control Project is finished with whitetop flower mites, yellow toadflax stem-boring weevils, and Dalmatian toadflax stem-boring weevils. Next, we will be monitoring for and collecting/releasing leafy spurge flea beetles and the red-headed leafy spurge root/stem-boring beetle.

Thanks to all the Jefferson County folks who came to hear the music and speeches at Tings in Jefferson City on Saturday, June 22nd. Rob Quist is the Montana Poet. His songs highlight the Montana we love: wide open spaces, our native heritage, Charlie Russell, and loving and living off the land. His long-time bandmate David Griffith is a master of seven different instruments but wowed the crowd with his steel guitar.
