Recaptured: An Amsterdam man who walked away from Eastern Ohio Correctional Center over the weekend was recaptured, but is facing additional charges of breaking and entering, escape and theft of a motor vehicle. Earlier this week authorities had reported Luke Andrew Magee, 38, 6021 Brocade Rd. SE, Amsterdam, had climbed on top of a garbage can Sunday at EOCC and maneuvered himself onto the roof, then walked away. On Tuesday deputies were dispatched to Rance Industries, State Route 43, to investigate a reported breaking and entering. The owner said several employees who live at the site reported a new pair of boots and $500 in cash were missing and reported the thefts had been captured on surveillance video. Deputies said Magee, a former employee, was later spotted on the property and taken into custody. Employees also alleged Magee had stolen a company vehicle Monday night but returned it the following morning, deputies said. The key was concealed in a cigarette pack in Magee’s possession when he was arrested, they said.

Charged: Frank A. Stewart Jr., 55, 75 Windy Hill Road, Wellsburg, grand larceny, Monday. Turn off: Dillonvale water crews wanted deputies to make a woman move her car so they could shut off her service, Tuesday. Employees said the resident had paid her bill that day “but should have paid it yesterday” so they’d sent the shut off crew out to turn her water off but she went home and parked over the shut-off valve. Deputies told the clerk they “could not have a vehicle towed which was parked on private property without a court order.” The woman said she’d consult village administrators and the solicitor “to determine how to proceed.”
