The Fourth of July brings multiple patriotic events to the county, with a full day of activities at Sahalee Park, a parade in Gateway, and an evening of local fireworks.

The events at Sahalee Park are sponsored by the Madras Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, and with breakfast by the Madras Elks BPOE and the Todd Beamer Memorial Run at 7 a.m. At 9 a.m. awards for the run will be given.

The annual parade around Sahalee Park begins at 10 a.m., followed by a flag raising at 12 p.m. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., music, vendors and activities will be held in the park.

The Gateway Fourth of July parade begins at 3 p.m. through Gateway. Staging is at the Herb Vibbert place on Gateway Avenue. Pre-registration is not required.

The Madras Sparklers fireworks display will begin at 10 p.m. from the high school. The locally run fireworks are entirely locally supported, and donations are still accepted for next year’s show. Remember, no other fireworks are allowed on school grounds. Please be fire-safe when using fireworks to celebrate the Fourth.
