Loud and clear: No PILOT
If there was any doubt about how the citizens in Jefferson County feel about granting a PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) to solar utility companies, County Commissioners should know by now the answer is a resounding “No!” The idea of more industrial solar facilities in general is not a popular one either, if Monday evening’s “Town Hall” meeting in Shepherdstown is any indication.
Berkeley and Jefferson firework events delayed due to storms
Independence Day celebrations at the Martinsburg Airport and at Sam Michaels Park in Jefferson County were canceled Saturday evening as a line of severe thunderstorms moved through the area. Jefferson County needs more public paths and trails
I would like to ask the commission about what plans are being considered for increasing public use areas. The more urban areas of Charles Town, Shepherdstown and Harpers Ferry need walking/bike paths to connect neighborhoods to each other; to connect neighborhoods to local schools; to connect to shopping areas; to parks; and to connect one pedestrian friendly area to another.
