JEFFERSON, NJ – Work on the temporary bridge on Route 15 in Jefferson is getting close to being ready for traffic, according to Jefferson Township Mayor Eric Wilsusen.
Wilsusen said the weekly meeting with local elected officials and NJ Department of Transportation Commissioner Francis O’Connor primarily focused on the reopening plan.
“If, with an emphasis on if, all goes well and nothing is delayed by weather on Sunday, July 14 a soft opening of one lane will be opened over the temporary bridge to only allow access for the businesses and residents south of Taylor Road, including Cedar Terrace,” Wilsusen said. “State Police will continue to be onsite at Taylor Road and 15SB to allow access only for these residents and businesses.”
The last remaining elements of the temporary bridge project, the placement of concrete barriers and stripping, are scheduled for Saturday, weather permitting. In addition, all the stripping, signage and temporary traffic lights that were put in place for the detour that allowed two way traffic from Taylor Road to Berkshire Valley Road has to be removed and restriped.
Weather permitting, the plan is to have both lanes of the temporary bridge open on Monday, July 15. The DOT will make an announcement when the temporary bridge is officially open.
