Two Women Injured in Unintended Shooting on Chicago's South Side, Suspects at Large
Two women were injured in a shooting incident that took place early Wednesday on Chicago’s South Side. The gunfire erupted in the vicinity of the 2900 block of South Dearborn Street, within the Dearborn Homes neighborhood, and resulted in two victims, a 24-year-old and a 28-year-old, catching bullets not intended for them. The Chicago Tribune reports that the shooting occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m., whereby the women found themselves amid an exchange of gunfire between individuals who thereafter fled the scene on foot.

Chicago Man Charged With Carjacking and Kidnapping in Federal Court, Faces Life Sentence

Chicago has seen its share of crime, but the brazen character of two recent carjackings has brought them into the federal spotlight. According to an indictment returned in U.S. District Court in Chicago, 22-year-old Virgil Gibson is facing serious charges for allegedly committing a pair of carjackings. The grand jury has charged Gibson with two counts of carjacking and multiple firearm related charges for incidents that occurred on April 7 and April 8 of this year.

We knew the dates, the location and when the headliners were playing. Now we have the rest of the schedule for Riot Fest taking place at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview!. New OP chief sustainability officer to begin July 29
Oak Park has hired a new chief sustainability officer, Lindsey Roland Nieratka, after the role has been vacant for about eight months. Marcella Bondie Keenan previously held the role, starting in March 2023. She was originally hired as a sustainability coordinator for the village in August 2021. Her last day as chief sustainability officer was Nov. 10, 2023, according to village officials.
