WILKES-BARRE — Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski on Tuesday said checks he presented will be used to enhance the quality of life for the community. Pashinski, D-Wilkes-Barre, along with Sen. Marty Flynn, D-Scranton, Sen. David Argall, R-Pottsville, and Wilkes-Barre Mayor George Brown presented three grant checks to a local arts center and to Bear Creek Township.

CHS completes several divestitures
Franklin-based hospital company Community Health Systems announced Thursday that it would sell three Pennsylvania hospitals for $120 million. The 186-bed Regional Hospital of Scranton, 122-bed Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, and 369-bed Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre are set to be acquired by Woodbridge Healthcare, a newly-formed nonprofit focused on health care access.
