Luzerne County Council funding tour showcases new Kingston-Forty Fort “Tower 1” fire truck
In their latest American Rescue tour stop Monday, Luzerne County Council members checked out the new Kingston-Forty Fort “Tower 1” fire truck. Purchased with a $1.8 million American Rescue Plan Act allocation from the county, Tower 1 has a 100-foot ladder, which is 15 feet longer than the vehicle it is replacing, said Fire Chief Frank Guido.
Wilkes-Barre cop stuck with drug needle during struggle
A city police officer was stuck in the hand with a hypodermic needle during a struggle with a woman who appeared high during an encounter in South Wilkes-Barre early Monday. Christian Women of Our Lady of Hope celebrate Mother's Day
The Christian Women of Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, celebrated Mother's Day with a luncheon held May 5 at the Woodlands Inn and Resort. The Rev. John Terry, pastor and moderator, gave the invocation and offered remarks. A bingo game was played and prizes were awarded. Evelyn Evans, recording secretary, entertained at the event. The Rev. Waverly approves container moratorium, mulls camping ban
WAVERLY — During their monthly workshop meeting on Tuesday, the Waverly Board of Trustees approved a moratorium on shipping containers being set up in the village. Trustees passed the moratorium unanimously after discussing the issue last month, when Code Enforcement Officer Chris Robinson explained that shipping containers had begun popping up throughout the municipality as de facto structures without the proper building permits.
