NPSO arrests 3 in connection with death of man who had been missing 2 years
NATCHITOCHES, La. – It took a little over two years to find Steven Burkett’s body after he had been reported missing. Two months later, three people are in custody. The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested John A. Mitchell, 56; Randall Obannon, 43; and Shelly Florane. Mitchell and Obannon are in the parish detention center. It's uncertain where Florane is being held.

Natchitoches Police Department investigating shooting on Virginia Avenue
NATCHITOCHES, La. (KSLA) - Natchitoches Police discovered a person suffering from gunshot injuries Thursday (July 25). Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Virginia Avenue in reference to gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers located the victim who was suffering from several gunshot wounds, according to officials with police department.
'Hurricane Strong' sculpture unveiled at Alexandria Museum of Art
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - On July 25, people gathered outside the Alexandria Museum of Art to reveal a new permanent sculpture in downtown Alexandria. The sculpture, “Hurricane Strong,” was made by Ky Beaux, an emerging artist from Opelousas. This project was initially created as part of a “National Endowment for the Arts” initiative in 2023.
