New outlet mall opening in Jenks announces 45 more retailers

JENKS, Okla. — A new outlet mall opening in Jenks announced 45 more retailers.

The Tulsa Premium Outlets will open on August 15 near Highway 75 and the Creek Turnpike.

FOX23 toured the center with developers on Wednesday.

Construction crews are still out here working on the mall.

They open in seven weeks and will bring in 800 jobs.

"This complex is the future of our city," said Jenks Mayor Cory Box. “This is absolutely a game changer for the City of Jenks."

Box said Tulsa Premium Outlets will not only impact the City of Jenks, but also the entire region.

"This is gonna anchor the sales tax generation with the City of Jenks for the next 50 to 75 years," said Box. "It's really cool to see some of the stores that are here.”

On Wednesday morning, developers announced 45 additional retailers including Banana Republic Factory Store, Grunt Style, J. Crew Factory, Fabletics and Old Navy Outlet.

"People have seen those brands. When they come here and they see the store being built, it's gonna be pretty impressive. They're gonna be amazed at what the finishes look like, just how the business of outlets has evolved where we are today and Tulsa's gonna be the beneficiary of that," said Gary Duncan, President of Simon Premium Outlets and The Mills.

The developers said this isn't just a place to shop, but it's also a place to hang out.

"I like to shop, but I think this playground is just something else. I can't wait to watch the kids enjoy this," Box said.

With a couple thousand parking spaces, the outlet is prepared for big crowds.

While developers are planning for foot traffic, the City of Jenks is planning for increased street traffic.

The Jenks Police Department budgeted for five new officers.

"We anticipate the fender benders and the turnarounds and the road rage that comes with this and all these people that are coming from out of town,” Box said.

Not all the retail space is filled and they expect to make more announcements after they open.

There is a job fair for Tulsa Premium Outlets on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jenks Chamber Officers in the Ranch Building, which is located at 10596 South Elm Street.
