Homemade Seasoned Fries Recipe: Easy Side Dish

Homemade fries are one of my favorite side dishes. They are so much tastier than fries you eat from a fast food restaurant, in my opinion.

These fries are baked and you can make these as thin or thick as you wish.

They are fresh, delicious and perfectly seasoned. I can eat these as a snack alone. But, you can pair with a sandwich, burger, or any other way you like to enjoy fries.

    Ingredients

    • 4 large russet potatoes
    • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (or olive oil)
    • 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked or regular)
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • Optional: garlic powder or onion powder for extra flavor

    Directions

    Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

    Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Wash and peel the potatoes (if desired). Cut them into even-sized fries (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick) to ensure even cooking.

    Soak the Fries:
    • Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.

    Dry the Fries:
    • Drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Removing excess moisture is key for crispiness.

    Season the Fries:
    • In a large bowl, toss the fries with the vegetable oil, paprika, black pepper, salt, and any additional seasonings you prefer (like garlic or onion powder).

    Arrange on Baking Sheet:
    • Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure there’s space between each fry for even cooking.

    Bake the Fries:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden brown and crispy.

    Serve:
    • Once done, remove from the oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Serve hot, optionally with your favorite dipping sauce!

    What do you think?

This is a classic recipe for seasoned fries. What would you pair with them?
