    Ingredients

    For the Meatballs:

    • 1 pound ground beef (or ground pork)
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/4 cup chopped onion
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

For the Sweet and Sour Sauce:

    • 1/2 cup ketchup
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
    • Fresh herbs like basil chopped, garnish (optional)

    Directions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Make the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and oregano. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

Bake the Meatballs: Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.

Prepare the Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, in a saucepan over medium heat, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and ginger. Stir until the mixture is well combined and begins to simmer.

Combine: Once the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to a large skillet or pot. Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the meatballs and gently stir to coat.

Simmer: Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for an additional 5-10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve: Serve the sweet and sour meatballs hot, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy!
