This recipe is complete with a homemade frosting and you should enjoy it with your favorite hot drink like tea or coffee.

    Enjoy!

    Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

    2 cups granulated sugar

    4 large eggs

    1 tablespoon vanilla extract

    3 cups all-purpose flour

    1 tablespoon baking powder

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 cup whole milk

    Directions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well mixed.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients, and mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans, smoothing the tops with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean; if the cakes start to brown too quickly, cover them loosely with foil.

Once baked, allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10-15 minutes before carefully inverting them onto a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, you can frost the cakes with your favorite icing, such as buttercream or cream cheese frosting, or enjoy them plain with a dusting of powdered sugar. Enjoy your delicious vanilla butter cake!
