Ram Nation of Gainesville Eastside High School shows love to former principal
Mae V. Islar smiled, waved and blew kisses to former colleagues and students during a ceremony that led to the unveiling of a street named in her honor. Hosted by the Eastside High School class of 1983 on Saturday, the ceremony was held at the school to honor Islar as the first woman principal at Eastside High School for her dedication, leadership and wisdom she provided to students and the community throughout her years as an educator.

North Carolina went 8-5 during the 2023 season. They went 4-4 against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents. They finished the season on a three-game losing streak. UNC opened the season with six consecutive wins. The good start began in Charlotte, N.C., when they defeated South Carolina (31-17). They then opened at home the following week, defeating Appalachia State (40-34) in double overtime. Next came a victory at home over Minnesota (31-13), a road victory at Pitt (41-24), and back-to-back home victories over Syracuse (40-7) and Miami (41-31).

According to Local 10, South Florida native Dr. Enid Pinkney has passed away at 92 years old. She spent her life dedicating her time to preserving and educating about African-American history in Miami-Dade County. Born in 1931 in Miami-Dade County, Pinkney began her education at All-Black Booker T. Washington High School before going on to work in the Miami-Dade Public School system.
